Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood acquitted in two more cases
Judicial magistrate says no evidence on record against Imran, can't proceed with case over such record
Local courts in Islamabad have acquitted PTI Founder Imran Khan and other leaders in two cases filed in the Kohsar and Karachi Company police stations for violation of Section 144 as well as holding the party's 'Azadi March' on Islamabad.
Judicial Magistrate Shahzad Khan accepted the acquittal pleas of Imran Khan, Sheikh Rasheed, Faisal Javed Khan, Ali Nawaz Awan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Qasim Suri, Raja Khurram Nawaz and other suspects in the case of violation of Article 144, registered in the Kohsar police station.
Moreover, Judicial Magistrate Mureed Abbas also accepted the pleas for acquittal of Imran Khan, Faisal Javed Khan, Ali Nawaz Awan, Saifullah Niazi, Zartaj Gul, Asad Umar and other suspects in the case filed in Karachi Company police station regarding the violation of Article 144 and holding 'Azadi March'.
In both the cases, arguments were presented on the acquittal pleas by Sardar Masroof Khan and Amna Ali. The courts had reserved judgements in the cases.
The judicial magistrate, while issuing the acquittal order of the former prime minister, wrote that according to the case, Imran Khan incited other people, while there was no evidence on record against him. The court could not proceed with the case against Imran Khan on such a record.
A suspect cannot be deprived of his legal rights without any reason. Even if the prosecution records the available evidence, the crime cannot be proved. Considering the facts, the story of the prosecution has become very suspicious, the order declared.
If the case is tried in the light of the existing evidence, the valuable time of the court will be wasted. In the case filed on November 2023 in Khanna police station, the PTI founder's petition for acquittal has been accepted.
